The acquisition of motion events in English by native speakers of Spanish: evidence for bidirectional cross-linguistic influence
This talk deals with the acquisition of motion events in a second language in order to determine: i) the preferred ME patterns (path vs manner) in the L1 and the L2 of L2 learners of English, native speakers of Spanish as L1; ii) whether L2 learners transfer L1 MEs patterns into the L2 and vice-versa L2 patterns into the L1 (transfer) ; and, iv) whether L2 proficiency and Age-of-acquisition (AoA) modulate these transfers.
