A brighter future for graduates audition

Every year the number of students of Spanish universities has been more than 1,5 million during the last 10 years. Despite the current figures of unemployment in the country, the statistics show how it is worth it to study a university degree to enhance employment prospects.

According to the EPA (the Spanish Active Population Survey) for the last four years the unemployment rates of graduates hasn´t increased as much as under qualified workers. In some sectors for under-qualified workers the unemployment rate increased by 60%. Besides, 90% of people who have lost their jobs in the last four years worked in sector where a low level of studies was needed.

These figures show that in the current situation of economic crisis, young people with university studies have more opportunities to get over the situation. Generally speaking, the more education we get the more opportunities we have to find a job.

On the other hand, Spanish students have the right to receive financial help as long as they meet the criteria established. Students without economic possibilities can apply for financial support to the government. Besides, although the financial aid for university studies is lower than the average for the UE, the investment in scholarships hasn´t decreased and 2 out of 10 university students have received any type of financial aid during the last academic year. Most of the money invested, goes directly to scholarships that don´t need to be returned, while in many other countries most of the financial aid goes to loans that eventually will be returned.

Spanish students not only have good support by the government to study a university degree but also have more chances to find a job after graduation.

But there still are issues to be considered after graduation: How can we orientate our professional career? What should we do after completing our studies?
