The care-providing robot FRIEND, developed at the Institute oif Automation of the University of Bremen (Germany), is a semi-autonomous service robot designed to support elderly and disabled people in their Activities of Daily Life (ADL), like preparing and serving a meal, or reintegration in professional life, e.g. at a library desk or in a workshop. In order to perform complex tasks started by the user, the system has an intelligent task planning using shared autonomy, i.e. the user is included when necessary.
