El Seminario Ibérico de Química Marina, el Encuentro de Oceanografía Física, la Reunión Ibérica de Fitoplancto Tóxico, la International Science Conference del Campus do Mar, el Workshop Patrimonio Cíes y el propio VI International Symposium on Marine Sciences, reunen en Vigo, entre os días 20 ao 22 de xuño de 2018, a cerca de 500 investigadores e investigadoras de 14 países, con el objetivo de recoger todo el conocimiento científico de interés internacional en el ámbito de las ciencias marinas. La sexta edición del ISMS permite asimismo al estudiantado de grado, másteres y doctorado exponer sus primeros trabajos científico
