Audiovisual Translation and Its Major Challenges. Parts III-IV 5 de maio de 2011

This presentation focuses on problems and challenges related to the field of AVT and working as a freelance subber for a film translation company, local either in your own country or abroad. The translators working for ECI London do often have professional education (in addition to their language education), excellent languages skills (thorough knowledge of the other language(s), including grammar, vocabulary etc.), are well-read and in touch with latest cultural/economic etc. developments, they are proficient in IT systems. It is very useful to participate in various film translation projects even if they are not paid jobs initially since the experience in the field is more than precious. It is more than useful to have one’s work proof-read by friends and react in a positive way to potential criticism. One should not accept commissions he or she is not ready for yet and they should make informed decisions about applying for a particular job. One should also consider working/applying for jobs with friends and colleagues, try proz.com etc. for some commissions. The job of AVT translator is very demanding but rewarding at the same time.
