Translation under sociological scrutiny:

Today's drive towards global uniformity of cultures, lifestyles and mentalities has not left untouched the field of translation activity, where changes in the production and evaluation processes brought about new patterns of translatorial behaviour and a decisive re-shaping of the translation arena. New labor settings were created, such as post editing, translation and interpreting in war and conflict, disaster interpreting, and others, resulting in new challenges to the translators' and interpreters' skills and knowledge, but also to ethical questions.
